In the past recent weeks, the world has been shaken to its core by COVID and protests everywhere to get more respect and defend/protect/value Black Lives. But that wasn’t all. The comic book industry has had its share of challenges too.
And we reached another level this week when two major creators were exposed as sexual predators and manipulators. As often, beyond the shock and the awful reality of things, we need to act. We can’t just throw words or prayers. Actions shall speak. I had to address that. Enough is enough. The Comic Book Industry has to be a better place than it is right now. Healthier. More inclusive. Safer for women, non-binary and POC. I have ideas. I’m sharing some in the video below. And am definitely open to discussing more.
I haven’t named my company FairSquare for nothing. I’m tired of excuses. Tired of terrible behaviors. Tired of biases, shady deals, lack of transparency, absence of diversity.
Seasoned creators like myself have to stand and act. I’ll do my part. And welcoming every creator to join me in changing our industry. Peace.
